In the heart of Lowther Park, Whale Farm Cottage offers exceptional five-star Gold Award standard (2010) accommodation for four people. This 18th century farmhouse and barn was bought by the ‘Yellow Earl’ in the 1920s to become part of the Lowther estate and used as a farm cottage until 1997. Now it is an elegant, comfortable house restored and renovated to the highest possible standard. Furniture is antique, furnishings sumptuous, design and decor exquisite, appliances top-of-the-range. The cottage has a large garden with views to the fells. Quiet footpaths lead almost from the door. For the more adventurous there is swimming in the River Lowther and plenty of storage for bikes, buggies and canoes.

Twin bedroom has a regal feel, with coronet canopies and hangings, upholstered bed heads, toile de jouy bedspreads. Same view as double bedroom.
Bathroom Bath with tiled surround, washbasin and loo, beamed ceiling and skylight.
