Lowther Estate has 30 residential letting properties, commercial letting properties and four holiday cottages, giving the opportunity to live, work or stay on the estate or in the attractive villages of Askham, Clifton or Hackthorpe, all within the Lake District National Park near Penrith in Cumbria.
The houses range from small cottages to five-bedroom detached farmhouses. Most are traditional buildings, the oldest dating from the 17th century, some are listed, such as Emperor's Lodge (right), the gatehouse built for the Kaiser’s visit to Lowther in 1895.
The commercial properties include the award-winning Hackthorpe Hall with offices and a warehouse.
The main part of the estate is let farms and grazing land. Occasionally farms become available to let and when they do, they appear on our web site.
The holiday cottages are traditional farm buildings that once served the Lowther Estate and now have been converted to provide some of the highest quality holiday accommodation in the Lake District.
Lowther properties are mainted by our own well-qualified, full-time maintenance team who have experience of working on all types of properties, including historic listed buildings.
