2013 - an Event - full year at Lowther

We are looking forward to an eventful 2013 at Lowther.

The Castle and its historic gardens moves on apace and are fully open to the public after the huge transformation of the Castle ruin and its gardens.  Visitors can see the gardens coming back to life as 400 years of history are discovered by the team of gardeners now working here.  The stable courtyard is now transformed into a beautiful area with a cafë open for light lunches, teas and coffees and the sculpture gallery will be opening in April displaying many Lowther treasures that have never been on show to the public before.

We are planning more events for 2013 including our regulars, Kendal Calling from 26th - 28th July where planning is already well underway to keep thousands of music lovers happy once again.  Tickets will be going on sale in February.  More information can be found on the Kendal Calling web site.  

The Lowther Show takes place on the weekend of 10th and 11th August - bigger and better than ever.  The exciting Horse Driving Trials, hounds, countryside displays, a real taste of the county in the Food and Drink marquee, lots for the family to do and plenty of shopping all put together with the magnificent Lowther Castle as the back drop.  More information can be found at The Lowther Show.

Many smaller events are planned such as Woodsmoke - build your own kayak, Born Survivor - get down and dirty on this extreme obstacle course or try your hand at Segway driving in the Deer Park in May, August and November.  Keep an eye on our web site for announcements of other events..  Click on our events page for updates.

Visitors who would like to stay and soak up the atmosphere for a little longer can stay in one of our luxury holiday cottages which offer a high standard of accommodation.  Explore the unspoilt splendour of the Estate set in the easetern fells of the Lake District.
