2012  A Year to Celebrate at Lowther

2012 is a special and exciting year for Lowther.  The Castle and its historic gardens will be fully open to the public after a huge transformation of the Castle ruin and its gardens.  Visitors will see this extraordinary sight as 400 years of garden history are being discovered.  The massive stable courtyard has been transformed into a superb visitor centre with a gallery where the treasures from Lowther Castle will be on display.

Events are back at Lowther starting with Kendal Calling music festival from 27th - 29th July, a sell-out again in 2011, this award winning event is a mix of great music in stunning surroundings.  The Lowther Game and Country Fair takes place on the 11th and 12th August returning for its second year and growing year by year.  This is a fantastic weekend offering the finest of country sports, championships, events and displays.  More exciting events are being planned for 2012/13 - click on our events page for updates.
